Vulnerable mothers in Hardap region receive support through the NamPower Foundation
"Nurturing our Future, Supporting Mothers in Need" is an initiative established and spearheaded by the Hardap Regional Council which is designed to provide essential support to 60 vulnerable breast-feeding mothers across the Hardap region. The program assists mothers who require nutritional support both for themselves and for their infant children during this critical stage of early childhood development.
Hardap Regional Council approached NamPower Foundation to partner with them on this important cause, to which the Foundation responded positively.
On 1 July 2026 at the Hardap regional council, the Hardap Regional Council Chairperson, Simon Kooper, officially received a donation valued at N$244,000 from the NamPower Foundation. The donation includes infant formula, baby soap, petroleum jelly and warm blankets to help ensure that babies have access to essential care and that families receive meaningful support.
Speaking at the handover, Mr. Kooper expressed his sincere appreciation to NamPower for its generous donation. He further called upon other corporate citizens to follow NamPower's example by partnering in this meaningful initiative, noting that there are many more vulnerable mothers and infants in Hoachanas, Stampriet, and across the Hardap region who remain in urgent need of assistance.
Also speaking at the handover, Head of NamPower Foundation, Otilie Mujoro, said that the birth of a child is a blessing and that they have inherent value, thus they deserve dignity and support from all of us. “The items we are handing over today may seem modest, but they carry a significant message of care, compassion, and solidarity”. Ms. Mujoro also took the opportunity to encourage all stakeholders, community members, and development partners to work together in supporting vulnerable families in our communities. “Together, we can ensure that every child has a healthy start in life and that no mother feels alone in her journey of parenthood”, she emphasized.
