Vision
To be a world-class utility offering innovative, sustainable, and affordable electricity solutionsMission
To deliver reliable, cutting-edge, and affordable electricity solutions to drive Namibia’s industrialisation and foster regional collaboration, while prioritising sustainability in our business, for the benefit of our stakeholdersMandate
As a commercial Public Enterprise, NamPower operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME) in adherence to the provisions of the Public Enterprises Governance Act 1 of 2019 (PEGA). The Ministry holds the authority for establishing policies in the country’s Electricity Supply Industry (ESI).
According to the Electricity Act 4 of 2007, NamPower’s mandate covers the entire electricity value chain, encompassing generation, transmission, distribution, supply, and energy trading. This includes facilitating electricity imports and exports, enabling NamPower to fulfil its role within the dynamic regulatory and market environment. By diligently executing its Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP 2026 – 2030), NamPower remains committed to ensuring a reliable and sustainable electricity supply.
NamPower is licensed to generate, transmit, supply and trade electricity, including the importing and exporting of electricity. NamPower’s license permits it to supply bulk electricity to all sectors of the economy and the population, with the extended role for distribution, particularly in areas where Regional Electricity Distributors (REDs) have not yet been established, or where municipalities are not able to provide distribution services.
