NamPower Boosts Oshana Schools
NamPower injected over N$1,6 million in educational infrastructure in the Oshana Region. This affirms the company’s commitment to science education, human dignity, safety, quality learning and the holistic development of every child.
The beneficiary institutions are Etambo Combined School, which was funded a science laboratory and equipment valued at N$559,837.51, the Oonte centre for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, which was provided ablution facilities valued at N$423,874.00, as well as Shikoyeni Primary School, where N$696,550.40 was invested in the renovation of classrooms and the construction of a playground.
To NamPower, the social investment is more than the transfer of infrastructure and equipment, it is a celebration of partnership, possibility and our shared determination to build stronger communities and a more prosperous Namibia.
To the recipients, the Head of the NamPower Foundation, Otilie Mujoro only has one condition. “I appeal to you to ensure that the science equipment is used safely and cared for, that the ablution facility is maintained and fully functional, and that the renovated classrooms and playground are safeguarded as a legacy for present and future generations,”.
The Governor of the Oshana Region, Hon. Hofni Alugodhi Iipinge at the occasion emphasized the importance of infrastructural investment but however stated, that only the commitment of teachers and the determination of learners will ultimately turn these facilities into meaningful educational opportunities.
Applauding NamPower, the governor stated that the investment demonstrates the importance of partnerships between government, the private sector, schools and communities. “When we work together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of our children,” he added in a statement delivered on his behalf.
Executive Director of the Oonte OVC, Martha Shiimi expressed appreciation to NamPower for responding with such generosity. “Your support demonstrates the positive impact that can be achieved when organisations work together to improve the lives of vulnerable Children of our communities,” she said.
