Fueling the future of the Namibian child
Jakobina Negumbo founded Toivo ya Toivo Pre-Primary School in 2006 with the sole and heartfelt dream to take the children of Havana Extension 1 out of the streets and to give them the opportunity to receive quality education. What started as a humble classroom with just three young learners and one devoted teacher, has now grown into a school that is home to 65 learners, with 4 classrooms and 4 teachers.
Throughout the years, Mee Jakobina’s dream has largely been dependent on the goodwill of caring organizations to sustain the school. She approached NamPower for assistance and as a responsible corporate citizen, the company responded by donating Kiddies chairs and tables, a solar system and gas stove to enable the school to prepare and refrigerate food for the learners - all worth a combined N$119 886.38. In addition, NamPower also provided the school with a computer and a four-in-one printer to make its administrative duties more efficient.
“God has heard our cry, and He has answered us through NamPower. Thank you for helping us, you have taken us out of the darkness. The parents, the teachers and the children are very happy”
– Jakobina Negumbo, Principal: Toivo ya Toivo Pre Primary School.
The future of Namibia is in the hands of the youth. NamPower believes in lighting the way for future generations through supporting initiatives like Toivo ya Toivo Pre Primary, that directly fuel the dreams and potential of the Namibian child.
