NamPower Foundation Uplifts Oluwaya Combined School and Titus Ndjaba Combined School

11 November 2025 – A joint handover ceremony was held to celebrate the completion and donation of two educational infrastructure projects valued at over N$1 million to two schools in the Ohangwena Region.

At Oluwaya Combined School, NamPower funded the construction of a security fence and a guardhouse, valued at N$854,370.00. Meanwhile, at Titus Ndjaba Combined School, the company constructed three new classrooms valued at N$788,000.00.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Isak Hamatwi, Director of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture in the Ohangwena Region, highlighted that Ohangwena has the largest learner population in Namibia—currently exceeding 134,000 learners. He noted that this growth brings numerous challenges, including shortages of classrooms, science laboratories, and textbooks, compounded by ever-increasing enrolment numbers. Mr. Hamatwi emphasized that educating a child is a collective national responsibility, requiring strong partnerships and collaboration between government, the private sector, and other stakeholders. He commended the partnership between the Government and NamPower, describing it as a shared commitment to advancing education in Namibia. “This is a wise and sustainable investment, as education forms the strong foundation for development—a seed from which the future of a nation blossoms,” he remarked.

The NamPower Foundation, the utility’s corporate social responsibility arm, continues to support the Government’s development agenda by addressing critical community needs through strategic social investments. “At NamPower, we believe that education is essential for empowering future generations,” the Foundation stated. “Our contribution to these projects—amounting to N$1,642,370.00—demonstrates our ongoing commitment to complementing Government’s efforts in improving school infrastructure.”, alluded Sarah Wayiti, NamPower Foundation’s Liaison Officer. NamPower remains dedicated to investing in the socio-economic development of Namibian communities for as long as resources allow.

NamPower encourages community members, learners, and educators to safeguard and maintain the newly developed infrastructure to ensure its sustainability for the benefit of current and future generations.
